Temperatures are rising quickly in Plymouth today. A hosepipe ban has begun. All schools have shut to keep children safe. The heat made the council advise bars to limit alcohol sales. The ban stops non-essential water use outside. That means no garden watering or car washing with hoses.
More hot weather is heading this way. Humidity is going up too. Thunderstorms may approach shortly but the heat is still increasing. Experts tell people to drink lots of water and remain indoors until late afternoon. Temperatures will get worse before they improve.
