Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and sailors serving aboard the USS Tripoli returned to the United States on Wednesday. They wrapped up tours assigned to the 5th and 7th Fleets. Meanwhile, thousands of Marines and sailors stationed in Okinawa went back to their Japan post after missions tied to the Iran situation. The Tripoli docked at its home port in Okinawa, ending its deployment. The U.S. Marines and the Royal Australian Air Force finished joint drills at Dyess under the Trident Fury program this week. In Vancouver, the police marine unit freed a week-old seal pup that was abandoned.
